About Us
Who We Are and Why We Write About Fixed Income
Jalan Advisory was built around one observation: the adults most likely to benefit from understanding bonds are also the ones most underserved by how bonds are typically explained.

How Jalan Advisory Came About
The name comes from the Malay word for road or path. It was chosen deliberately — not because we think of fixed income as an exciting journey, but because we believe that understanding it is a path worth taking with care, at a reasonable pace, without being pushed along by urgency.
Jalan Advisory was founded in Singapore in 2019 by a small group of people who had spent careers writing about financial markets and teaching adults how to interpret them. What they noticed, working with professionals in their forties and fifties, was a consistent gap: people who had spent decades building their financial lives had never had the space to properly understand how bonds worked. They had heard of Singapore Savings Bonds. They had seen T-Bills mentioned. They had no clear sense of what any of it meant for their own households.
The courses that came out of those early conversations were written as reading material, not as training programmes. They assume that adults in their forties and beyond read carefully, think independently, and prefer to be treated as capable people rather than as students who need to be guided through simple steps. The language is plain, the pacing is unhurried, and the tone is never promotional.
We are based at 112 Robinson Road in Singapore's central business district, which reflects the community we work with: working professionals and retirees in Singapore who have the savings and the interest to understand how fixed-income investments actually function, and who would like to approach that understanding without being sold anything.

How We Work
Standards That Guide Our Content
MAS and MoneySense Alignment
All course content references official MAS publications and MoneySense resources where relevant. We do not offer investment recommendations, and our materials reflect that clearly.
Plain Language Review
Every reading passage goes through a plain-language review before release. If a sentence requires a finance degree to parse, it gets rewritten until it doesn't.
Annual Content Review
Singapore's fixed-income landscape changes. We review all course materials each year and update figures, instrument details, and regulatory references to reflect current conditions.
Data Protection
Learner information is held and processed in accordance with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act. We do not share personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
No Promotional Conflicts
Jalan Advisory does not receive referral fees from financial institutions. Our materials do not promote specific products. The editorial and commercial sides of the business are kept separate.
Accessible Formatting
Course documents are formatted for legibility on screen and in print. Fonts are sized for comfortable reading, and key terms are clearly marked so learners can return to them easily.
Fixed Income Literacy for Adults in Singapore
Singapore's fixed-income market offers adults a range of steady instruments — Singapore Savings Bonds, Singapore Government Securities, Treasury Bills, and MAS Bills — that are regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore and accessible to retail investors. Yet many adults who could benefit from understanding these instruments have never had a structured opportunity to study how they actually work.
Jalan Advisory fills that gap by providing educational material written specifically for adults in their forties and beyond. The target reader is not a first-time saver or a recent graduate. They are someone who has spent decades managing their household finances, has heard financial commentary throughout that time, and would now like to build a calm, well-grounded understanding of how fixed-income investments are structured — what a coupon is, how yield relates to price, what a credit rating actually represents, and how laddering short-dated government instruments fits into a household that is drawing down rather than accumulating.
The courses are written in Singapore English, reference Singapore-specific instruments and regulations, and are priced in Singapore dollars. All materials are delivered digitally and can be worked through at any pace the learner chooses.
