Why Jalan Advisory

What Makes the Difference

Written for Your Stage of Life

Content assumes you have decades of real-life experience and no patience for jargon. It meets you where you are.

Singapore-Specific

Every example draws from MAS-regulated instruments: SGS, SSBs, T-Bills, MAS Bills, and retail corporate bonds where applicable.

No Deadlines, No Pressure

Weekly readings are short enough to sit with over a morning coffee. There are no live calls and no timed assessments.

Practical Worksheets

Each course includes a working document you can keep — a checklist, a mapping tool, or a planning template for your own review.

Descriptive, Not Prescriptive

Nothing here tells you what to buy. The material builds understanding so that your conversations with a licensed adviser are more productive.

Suitable for Couples, Too

The later-years course includes a conversation guide designed for reviewing fixed-income choices with a spouse or adult children.

Questions

Things People Often Ask

Do I need financial experience to take these courses?
No prior background is needed for the introductory or reflective courses. The intermediate course assumes you have completed the first, or are already comfortable with how a bond coupon works. All three are written for adults who read carefully, not for finance professionals.
Are the courses live or self-paced?
Entirely self-paced. There are no scheduled sessions, no video calls, and no fixed deadlines. Each course is structured as weekly readings with accompanying worksheets. You can spread them out or take them more quickly, as your schedule allows.
Will these courses tell me which bonds to purchase?
No. These are educational courses — they build understanding of how fixed-income instruments work, how to read related documents, and how to think about their place in a household's finances. For personal investment decisions, a licensed financial adviser should always be consulted.
How is content delivered after enrolment?
Materials are provided as well-formatted documents delivered directly to the email address you register with. You will also receive the worksheets and reference materials specific to each course as a separate set of files, suitable for printing if you prefer to work on paper.
Can I take more than one course at a time?
You are welcome to enrol in multiple courses. That said, many learners find it works better to complete the introductory course first, so the terminology is settled before moving into the more detailed material on reading bond documents or planning for retirement income.
What is the refund policy?
If you decide the course is not right for you within seven days of receiving the first set of materials, write to us and we will arrange a full refund. After that period, we are unable to offer refunds, though we are happy to speak with you if you have concerns about the content.
